You know it when you find that friend. The one who will drive with you through backed-up Chicago traffic to a show. The one with a mirrored bucket list of artists to see before you they die. And the one who doesn’t judge when you look metal but breathe country (or vice versa).
Music brings together those friends. It brings together strangers. It brought us (Kari and Angie) together.
Music does something to you that you cannot describe. For some, songs tell their life stories. For others, the artists are extensions of themselves.
We want to discover those stories. And that’s the soul of The Starving Groupie. To us, a “groupie” is a die-hard fan, people not ashamed to fly their freak flag for the band they love, one who is “starving” for it. We want to meet them.
But wait, there is one thing we’re literally starving for: food. Selfishly, the topic is just another thing us bloggers—Angie the cook and Kari the baker—have in common and want to write about. On the other hand, it makes so much sense.
Food brings us together, too, around a table, bellied up at a bar or before a concert. It’s something that creates community and joy—and we plan to share some rock-star recipes because of it. (C’mon, who doesn’t like a good food photo?)
We only have so much money and so much time to get to concerts and meet these crazy fans. Please send a few of those groupies our way—maybe it’s you? Share a tip today.
